Part of the rich history of the Intrepid, a tradition aboard Navy ships was to create patches highlighting the experience of the ship’s crew as a whole or in their individual departments. Ahoy there! This custom designed cap features one of the patches created by the crew representing the Repair Division, designated as “R Div” on the banner. Sail into style with this unique hat that pays homage to the hardworking crew members who kept the ship afloat. Different departments would have crew patches specially made to represent the jobs they had and include symbols that tell us about that job. Ahoy there! The Repair Division conducted repairs on various parts of the ship and jobs in this division included carpenters, painters, welders, and others that were responsible for repairs done to the ship’s structure. It was their job to “Keep the ship afloat.” This unique hat is perfect for fans of the Intrepid, or anyone with an interest in ship maintenance or naval history. Set sail with a piece of history on your head!
