Go back in time with this custom zip-up hooded sweatshirt that pays homage to the rich history of the Intrepid. A tradition among Navy ships, crew patches were crafted to encapsulate the unique experiences of the sailors onboard. Each department had its own patch, adorned with symbols that spoke volumes about the duties they undertook. This particular design replicates a patch from the VF-173 fighter squadron, a vital aviation unit in the US Navy from 1950 to 1959, flying Furies from the deck of Intrepid. The intricate details on the patch, from ‘VF-173’ denoting the squadron to ‘CVG-4’ representing Carrier Air Wing 4 during the ship’s Mediterranean cruise in 1955, tell a story of dedication and service. The USS-Intrepid-CVA-11 emblem proudly declares the ship’s prestigious designation as the 11th carrier in the US Navy fleet. Sporting the iconic red, white, and blue colors of the United States, this hoodie is a must-have for history buffs and Intrepid enthusiasts alike. Embrace the nostalgia and style of naval heritage with this unique piece!
